This is Violet (tonight's dinner is below). I'm starting with Violet because we had a stressful day today with her and didn't put much thought or time into dinner because of it. She's lost a lot of weight lately and we're still in the process of trying to figure out why. She had to see a specialist in Richmond today for some tests and it took many hours longer than we anticipated. We had to leave her there for the better part of the day and though we did have a good vegan lunch at the Harrison Street Coffee Shop that was the extent of the fun. When we finally got home it was dinner time and we didn't feel much like cooking so we threw together a relatively quick pasta dish. I sauteed fresh peas, mushrooms and garlic in lots of olive oil, then added a little chard along with olives and capers and a fresh diced tomato and seasoned it with dried basil and salt & pepper. I mixed in some spaghetti and that was it for dinner.

Oh...I hope violet gets well soon. (she's so cute, with such a beautiful name).
I hope Violet's okay! Andre, one of my cats, has been shedding more than he should and I'm worried about him. I recall that there was a cat clinic in Charlottesville when I lived there. Did it close?
I hope everything works out okay with violet.
Oh, Violet is beautiful. I hope she gets better soon! At least she is getting the best care.
Get well wishes to Violet from our kitty Sarabi...
good luck determining the cause and getting her back to good health.

The dinner looks great anyway - I hope she's okay, she's very cute!
Wishing Violet (love that name) a speedy and full recovery. She is so beautiful. Did you get a conclusive diagnosis from the vets?
Huggs, G :)
I'm so heartbroken for your kitty. I hope she gets better soon. I can only imagine the stress you must be going through for her.
I hope violet gets better soon she sure is beautiful!
sweet little violet. she is so pretty. Lately I have been appreciating my sweet cat Yummers so much... and feeling so grateful for the way that he encourages me to slow down and be quiet and peaceful. I hope that little Violet is okay and that you have many chances to snuggle and cuddle with her and help her feel safe & loved.
your friend,
Amey
I hope Violet is OK... poor little girl...
Me an my kitty girls are keeping Violet in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully all will be well. She is beautiful just like her name!
Thanks so much for all the positive thoughts everyone. The good news is that all her blood work came back normal but that means we don't really have a positive diagnosis. The x-rays show some cloudy spots on her lungs that are cause for concern but there's no way to know for sure what's going on without some rather invasive (and expensive) tests. It's not likely that it's cancer but even hearing that word is scary - she's only 8 years old. It's more likely that it's a chronic lower respiratory problem and that's something that can be treated so hopefully she'll be fine. We changed her food after we first noticed the weight loss and she seems to be gaining a little weight back so that's a good sign.
Violet is very beautiful. my kitty lost a lot of weight recently and after many tests they discovered she had irritable bowel. it was caused by some anti biotics she had been on. she was on a special type of diet for a few months and is now eating pet shop food for pets with sensative stomachs. please keep us posted. best wishes to all of you !
Keep us posted about Violet!
It's too bad she is unwell!
My doggie also had some respiratory problems and now he takes medications every day for it. It is not really something nice to have but at least he can cope with it. He eats prety a lot these days and he has gained weight since he started the medications.
