Most of us who aren't life-long vegans probably have a story about some questionable junk food we used to eat. Well, I'm afraid my list is rather long, but up near the top is Oreo cookie Blizzards from Dairy Queen. There was a time in my life when hardly a road trip went by without a stop at DQ for a Blizzard. Fortunately, there's Newman O's and Tofutti. Throw a few crumbled cookies and some chocolate Tofutti into a food processor, whir a few times and voila - better than a Blizzard. I even put a little fresh peach on the side - try getting Dairy Queen to do that for you.

You have blown Dairy Queen Away!
I was at one recently, randomly, and everyone but me had their milk shakes and cones that smelt like fries at the same time, aw shucks. I'm going to need some more soy cream in the house : )
mmm, I used to get Oreo or Reese's. That looks so delicious!
Skor bar blizzards used to be my very favorite, Chris!! Oh, I ate a LOT of them.
The very last time I had one, was when they somehow put bacon in there - yes crumbled bacon in my skor bar blizzard!!! How the heck did they manage that? I wasn't vegan (obviously) at the time, but I *was* vegetarian and quite horrified, so that was the last one. When you make your own, you can also rest assured no 'other' stuff gets in there! :)
I have been wanting to make my own ice cream lately. This is a like a semi homemade kind. I like it.
Last night I saw a recipe for avocado ice cream. I may just try it out!

I was always obsessed with the Mac Donald's one. Can't even remember the name of it now. I'd always ask them to mix it with Oreo and Smarties. One summer my friend and I were trying to break a record or something cause we ordered one for almost every day during the month of july. Oh the shame!
I love the chocolate covered cherries and chocolate blizzard. Somewhere there must be vegan chocolate covered cherries.......

Sounds good Susan - I suppose you could make your own.
eesh - I ate a good bit of McD's in high school... pains me to think about it now...
Teddy - I've heard of avocados in desserts before. I'm a little skeptical but maybe I'll give it a try some time.
Dreena, that's a pretty scary story. I assure you there wasn't any bacon in my blizzard - not even tempeh bacon ;-)
Cherie - Reese's were a favorite of mine too. I just recently had a vegan chocolate peanut butter cup at a vegetarian coffe shop in Richmond - very tasty.
thanks Jess. I know what you mean about everything smelling like fries - yuck. I mean, I like fries but I also like to keep my dessert separate thank you very much.
Now this is what I'm talking about!
Me too! I just had another one last night.
